Thesis projects Notes for October 15

What are you thinking about?

We discussed initial ideas about theses today. These include projects on the following topics:

• Land inheritance rights for women in Morocco
• Politics and society in Zimbabwe
• The political economy of military spending in the US
• The lack of ethnic conflict in Nepal
• Multiculturalism in the Netherlands
• Derrida on democracy
• The justification for restrictions on immigration

In the past, PPE students seemed to have a very heavy pre-law orientation. Not this year! (The Nepal project is going to be an IR thesis, but still.)

And what is next on the syllabus? We’re going to fight the last war with four sessions on legal topics! It’s still good. But the difference that one year can make is striking.
